Whitetail Hunting Season in Indiana
- Youth season runs Sept. 26-27. A hunter 17 years or younger can hunt whitetail with a license during this period if under the supervision of an adult. The youth can use a bow, shotgun, rifle or muzzleloader. The adult can only give advice and call the deer, and cannot carry a gun of his own. Only non-antlered deer can be taken.
- Early archery season runs from Oct. 1 to Nov. 29. A bonus license allowing for the taking of an extra antlerless deer might be available depending upon the location. No crossbows are permitted during this time.
- Firearms season runs from Nov. 14 to Nov. 29. All weapons are permitted during this time except for crossbows. Only antlered deer can be taken, but an extra antlerless deer might be available depending upon the location.
- Muzzleloader season runs from Dec. 5 to Dec. 20. A special muzzleloader license is required for either pistols or long guns. If an antlerless deer license is held, it can be hunted with a bow or crossbow.
- Late archery season runs from Dec. 5 to Jan. 3. Both bow and crossbow can be used. A bonus license allowing for the taking of an extra antlerless deer might be available depending upon the location.
- Generally only one antlered deer can be taken across all the deer seasons. With the proper bonus licenses, either a combination of one antlered deer and three antlerless deer can be taken or a total of four antlerless deer.
