How to Make a Light Bulb Shade
- 1). Sketch your desired design for your light bulb shade. Draw what you you want your shade to look like when finished so you will have a guide as you go about making your lamp shade. Measure how wide and how tall you want the lamp shade to be and note the dimensions in your sketch.
- 2). Use your measuring tape to get the exact dimensions of the area where you will place the lamp. The size of your light bulb shade must not be too big or too small compared with the space where you will place the lamp.
- 3). Lay the wallpaper on a flat surface and draw out a pattern for the shade, according to your sketch. The wallpaper will serve as the shade's main material.
- 4). Draw a circle to create a traditional cone shape for the shade of your light bulb. Use the width of your lampshade from your measurements in step 2 as the diameter.
- 5). Cut through the seam from your inner circle using sharp scissors, working your way out in a straight line.
- 6). Attach the cut wallpaper to your pre-made light bulb shade wireframe with glue. Leave the glue to dry for at least 2 hours before placing the shade over the light bulb.
