Safety Pin Method

• 1). Tie a large knot in one end of the drawstring. This is to prevent that end from being pulled through the drawstring casing, which is the tunnel at the top of the pants the drawstring goes through.
  
  
• 2). Pin a safety pin securely to the other end of the drawstring. Choose the largest pin that will fit through the drawstring hole. Make sure the pin is firmly attached as you do not want the string to come off the pin in the middle of the casing.
  
  
• 3). Insert the safety pin into the drawstring hole. Push the safety pin through the casing by holding the safety pin with one hand. Pull the fabric around it with the other hand and then release the fabric behind the safety pin. Continue this motion all the way around the casing.
  
  
• 4). Once the safety pin reaches the other side, pull the pin out of the casing and remove the pin from the drawstring. Pull the drawstring even on both sides.
  
  

Wire Method

• 1). Straighten out a coat hanger into a long wire. Bend the wire into a "U" shape.
  
  
• 2). Bend one end of the wire into a hook. Attach the drawstring to the hook end of the wire.
  
  
• 3). Place some tape over the end of the hook so it does not catch the fabric on the inside of the sweats.
  
  
• 4). Apply tape to the other end of the wire to prevent the wire from poking through the fabric.
  
  Insert the non-hook end into the drawstring hole. Push the wire through the casing until you reach the other side.
  
  
• 5). Pull the wire through the casing pulling the drawstring with it. Remove the wire from the drawstring. Pull the drawstring even on both sides.
