How to Build a Smoker With a Clay Pot
- 1). Place the bricks or legs on the deck, patio or sidewalk where you will be using the smoker. Arrange them in a triangle to provide the best balance for the smoker.
- 2). Thread the electrical cord of the hot plate through the drainage hole in the bottom of one of the pots and set the hot plate flat on the inside of the pot.
- 3). Set the saucer on the hot plate and top it with the wet wood chips.
- 4). Place a grill or other slotted container for holding the food to be smoked on top of the pot.
- 5). Plug in the hot plate and put your food on the grill.
- 6). Invert the second pot or the terra cotta bowl over the bottom pot. Allow the food to smoke until it reaches the desired internal temperature.
