Irresponsibility or Risk Taking - Which one are you doing?
If you are irresponsible on a consistent basis you will most likely never accomplish much, at least not much of any importance. There may be times that you will have a perceived success, but these occasions are miniscule compared with the failures that keep coming.
Consider as an example, what if you were challenged by some friends, to dive off of a high diving board into a very shallow pool of water. Although you are afraid to do the dive, for some strange reason you are even more afraid of your friends jeering and making fun of you if you decide that you are not going to do the dive. Obviously your fear of diving off of a high dive into a shallow puddle of water is reasonable and clear headed thinking.
Consider too that you have no formal training in doing such a dive, can see yourself experiencing broken limbs and a crushed chest cavity from attempting such a stupid feat. Obviously for you to climb the ladder and jump off of the diving board at this point would be the height of foolishness, and to do that would seriously call into question your sanity.
On the other hand, what if you were trained be the premier trick diver, the person who has done this feat over and over again with nothing adverse ever happening to him. If you were to visualize yourself going through all of the exercises and motions that are necessary to do a dive like this successfully. Why, because you are in the know now and are filled with the knowledge of how to do this successfully. Although there is still risk involved, but it is a managed risk, with knowledge.
Granted from my perspective it still seems foolish, bu that is because I am not in the know. I do not know how to do it., but you do and so you are now not irresponsible, but simply taking a manageable risk
Consider for example the "Stunt People that work in the movie and entertainment industry. From our perspective, when they do a stunt it looks irresponsible, but is it? No. Behind the scenes these people are some of the most careful and responsible people you could ever come into contact with. There work simply involves dangers that they manage very carefully in order to scare the pants off of us as viewers, that's their job.
In your life, risk is inevitable even unavoidable if we are to accomplish anything of value. With knowledge and care though, you can mange that risk and not only survive but flourish.
