How to Make a Palm Tree From a Gift Tube
- 1). Turn a 12-by-18-inch sheet of green construction paper vertically.
- 2). Draw eight vertical strips that are 1 1/2 inches apart across the entire paper using a pencil and ruler. The strips will be the fronds, or palm branches of the palm tree.
- 3). Cut the fronds apart using scissors. Leave about 2 inches of uncut space at the bottom of each frond so the fronds remain connected to the paper.
- 4). Snip off the tips of each frond at an angle using scissors.
- 5). Cut 1-inch diagonal slits with the scissors, about 1 inch apart down the length of one side of each frond. Do not make nicks on the bottom, uncut section of the frond.
- 6). Roll tightly the bottom uncut section of the fronds into a tube shape.
- 7). Press the bottom of the frond tube down into the top of a 1 1/4-inch diameter cardboard gift-wrapping tube so it fits snugly and the fronds hang out from the open top.
- 8). Fan out the fronds.
