How Do I Filter Words in cPanel Email?

27
    • 1). Select the icon "User Level Filtering" from the cPanel section "Email" to filter email for an individual email account on your domain name, or choose "Account Level Filtering" to apply this filter to all email accounts on your domain.

    • 2). Click the "Manage Filters" link next to the email account to which you wish to apply the email filter. Select the gray "Create a New Filter" button on the next page. Select the "Create a New Filter" button to continue if you are applying the email filter to every email account.

    • 3). Provide an email filter name, in the field provided, that describes the material you wish to filter. For example, to delete every email that mentions XYZ Widgets, label this field "XYZ Widgets Filter."

    • 4). Identify whether your targeted keyword appears in the email subject or body using the first drop-down menu as it appears in the shadowed section titled "Rules." Or filter email for keywords as they appear in email addresses using the "From," "To" and "Reply Address" options.

    • 5). Select whether the keyword on your list is complete, or "equal" to the way it will be entered from the second drop-down menu. Identify the keyword as "containing" to include words that may be part of a compound word or larger phrase; "does not contain" to identify emails that do not contain a particular word; and "begins with" or "ending with" to identify specific letters.

    • 6). Enter the keyword in the field provided below the drop-down menus. In the gray "Actions" section, select the appropriate rule to apply to your email filter. Choose "Discard message" to automatically send mail with that word to the trash; "Redirect to email" to forward email to another address; "Fail with Message" to reject the email with a personalized message; and "Deliver to Folder" to store the message in a specified folder.

    • 7). Press "Activate" to add the email filtering rule to your cPanel account.
