Southwest Airlines Still Flies Happy Passengers
Despite the continual negative reporting about the sad state of the airline industry these days, one carrier in particular is still enjoying success as the best and most hassle free airline in the industry.
Southwest Airlines still flies with happy passengers, and has done so for over forty years.
From their humble beginnings in Texas in the 70's to their current dominance in the skies over North America, the maverick 'discount' carrier has changed how the nation flies.
Southwest Airlines continues to be the industry leader in on time performance, baggage handling, safety, customer service and passenger satisfaction.
Passengers enjoy a wide range of 'no frills' services way beyond peanuts and crackers.
They get one of the easiest to use websites that makes it a cinch to manage rewards accounts, check itineraries, and a new future allows passengers to view fares between cities by the month.
From no baggage fees to the simplest frequent flier program ever created, they offer the best and most customer friendly approach to taking care of their passengers, and they do it amazingly well.
I've been a fan and a regular customer for years, and I also travel frequently on a wide range of airlines, and Southwest always hits a home run with me every time.
They've dropped the ball a couple of times, and in all fairness I have to say that they can do better with certain things.
But, overall I would not even consider flying with anyone else unless I absolutely have to.
The employees at Southwest are more than just workers.
They are family, and the corporate culture they live under promotes a good atmosphere to work and advance careers in, and I want to support a company that takes care of their people.
Due to the recent merger between Southwest and AirTran, expect to see an enormous increase in service and travel options.
All I can say is that Delta is probably going to be spending much of the holiday season asking Santa for another Hub to move to so they can sill make some money while they can.
As Southwest grows, expect more destinations, including to places like Mexico, the Caribbean and who knows...
maybe Europe someday.
It's possible as well as the next logical choice for them to make in terms of continuing to impact the world with Southwest Airlines ability to make travel available for as many happy passengers as possible.
