How to Set Up a PC as a Router
- 1). Click "Start." Type "View Network Connections" in the search box at the bottom of the "Start" menu. Press "Enter."
- 2). Right-click on the icon for the Internet connection to be shared. Choose "Properties" from the pop-up menu. This is commonly labeled "Local Area Connection," to represent a direct Ethernet cable connection to a high-speed Internet modem.
- 3). Click the "Sharing" tab.
- 4). Click a check mark in the box next to "Allow Other Network Users to Connect Through This Computer's Internet Connection."
- 5). Click the drop-down menu under "Home Networking Connection." Choose the adapter through which other computers will connect. If the PC has one Ethernet adapter already in use and one wireless adapter, pick the connection labeled "Wireless Network Connection."
- 6). Click the "OK" button to complete the setup and enabling of the PC as a router via Internet connection sharing, or ICS.
