Sugarland"s "Love on the Inside" Tour hits Minneapolis, MN - April 17, 2009
My 2009 concert season began with Billy Currington as the opening for the new ACM Duo-Of-The-Year, Sugarland.
I had never seen Billy Currington in concert before so this was a totally new experience for me. I didn't know what to expect so I sat back and took it all in. He performed a great mix of songs off all three of his albums.
Granted, I took a hiatus from concerts for a while but even I knew and loved his selection of fan favorites.
"Everything" started the evening off in fine style. "I Got A Feelin'" kept things moving. "I Wanna Be A Hillbilly" rocked the place. "Why, Why, Why" kept the crowd's momentum up. Next, he treated us to his new single, "People Are Crazy," off his current album Little Bit Of Everything.
Changing the pace to that slow sultry seduction that he is famous for, he held the ladies in the palm of his hand while he sang "Must Be Doin' Somethin' Right," followed by "Don't." Whew, that man can sing! Billy closed his set all too soon with "Good Directions."
At first I expected Billy to have super high energy and cover the stage, but as his set progressed, it was evident that his rock solid vocals and relaxed style similar to Alan Jackson served him well, very well indeed.
