How to Make Name Pins From Wire

11
    • 1). Cut the 8 1/2-foot piece of 10 gauge wire into two sections 2 feet 8 inches long and one section 3 feet long.

    • 2). Match one end from each piece of wire. Insert the ends into the opening for a drill bit. Tighten the chuck to hold the wire securely.

    • 3). Secure the other three ends of the wire in a bench vise. The end that is longer is used for the stick pin. Make sure all three ends are secured evenly.

    • 4). Hold the drill and walk away from the bench vise until the wire is straight. Start the drill and walk toward the bench vise. The wire will twist. Stop the drill when the desired twist is formed. Remove the wire from the drill and from the bench vise.

    • 5). Start bending the wire 1/4 inch in from the single piece of wire. Continue bending the wire until the name is complete. Use a template if necessary. Write the name on a piece of paper a minimum of 1 inch tall with ribbon type letters. Follow the template to bend the wire. Cut off the excess wire at the end of the name.

    • 6). Cut the single wire 2- to 3-inches long. Sharpen the end of the wire with a flat file to form a sharp point. Bend the single wire behind the wire name until it is parallel with the name.
