Side Effects of Glocovance
- The most common side effects are nausea, vomiting, headache, stomach pain, upper respiratory infections, diarrhea and dizziness.
- Severe but rare side effects seen are severe stomach pain, yellowing skin, dark urine, bleeding, fever, low blood sugar and sore throat.
- Benefits are control of high blood sugar, prevention of kidney damage, loss of limbs, blindness and nerve problems.
- Do not use with congestive heart failure, kidney disease or liver disease. Also do not used with diabetic ketoacidosis where the body does not have enough insulin and sugars are high. Those with serious infections in the heart or blood should avoid glocovance as well.
- Glucovance causes a rare condition of lactic acid buildup in the blood called lactic acidosis, and 50 percent of all cases are fatal. It also can cause fatal heart attacks and kidney damage.
