My iPod Won't Go in DFU Mode

    • 1). Open iTunes. Connect the iPod to the computer with the USB cable.

    • 2). Turn computer's volume on, if it isn't already.

    • 3). Hold down the device's "Home" button and "Power" button at the same time until the device turns off and the screen goes dark.

    • 4). Let go of the "Power" button while still holding the "Home" button.

    • 5). After about 10 seconds, you will hear a noise from your computer to indicate that it has detected a new device. Release the Home button so that it does not go into recovery mode.

    • 6). Ensure that the iPod is in DFU mode and not recovery mode. The status should be made clear in iTunes, because it will ask you to restore the device's firmware. If it did not work, reset the iPod and try again.
