How to Use a Roland GR-09
- 1). Connect the 1/4-inch jack of the special cable that came with the GK2 or GK2A to the output jack on your guitar. Connect the 13-pin end of the cable to the "GK in" connector on the rear of the GR-09 to establish a communication channel between the Roland pickup and the floor unit.
- 2). Connect a 1/4-inch instrument cable to the "guitar out" jack on the rear of the GR-09. Connect the other end of the cable to a guitar amplifier. This enables you to route the audio and synthesizer signals separately. If you don't route the signal to a guitar amplifier, the synthesizer and the guitar are routed as one signal.
- 3). Connect a 1/4-inch cable to the "mix out" jack. Connect the other end to your preferred output device, such as a sound mixer, audio interface or speaker.
- 4). Fit the supplied AC adapter to the power inlet on the rear of the panel and turn on the GR-09. A welcome screen will display current settings.
- 5). Press the "edit/play" button to engage "play" mode. Other parameters function differently according to which mode you select. For example, in "play" mode the "value +" button scrolls through preset patches. In "edit" mode, the "value +" button increases the selected parameter.
- 6). Turn the "mode" dial on the GR-09 to "MIDI channel." Click button "1" with your foot to open "bank 1." Use the S1 switch on your compatible guitar to scroll through the bank.
- 7). Turn the "mode" dial to "bend range" if using a non-sting-instrument setting, like "trombone." This converts string bends into stepped notes for a more authentic effect.
