Proper Care of Gore-Tex
- 1). Wash your Gore-Tex garment in warm water with a liquid or powdered laundry detergent. Don't use any detergents with bleach. Make sure your detergent doesn't contain a fabric softener, and don't add fabric softener during the washing or drying cycles.
- 2). Dry clean your garment according to the label instructions. Some of the items require this type of cleaning. Gore-Tex fabrics require a clear distilled solvent rinse and a spray repellent to remain waterproof.
- 3). Use a steam iron only if the care label says it is appropriate. Place a towel or heavy cloth between the clothing item and the iron.
- 4). Set the dryer on a medium or warm heat setting to tumble your garment dry. The heat will reactivate any water repellency treatment on your garment.
- 5). Treat the garment with a water repellency restorative treatment if necessary. This product is available wherever Gore-Tex products are sold.
- 6). Place a pre-treatment stain removal on your garment if any stains are present. Be sure the garment is thoroughly rinsed to maintain the water and wind protection.
