H.S. Scent A Way Odorless Scent Control Kit Review
About.com Rating
The Bottom Line
This kit is fairly thorough, but it is missing one Scent-A-Way product that many hunters enjoy, and that's the green liquid soap/shampoo that can be found in many (if not most) hunting camps. I enjoyed using this kit last season, and I experienced many close encounters with whitetails, so I'm inclined to believe in its effectiveness.

H.S. Scent-A-Way Odorless Scent Control Kit Review
I'm not a gambling man, and when I do take risks I like to hedge my bets.
For that reason, I have been a user of scent-killing sprays for many years. While it may be true that any or all odor control sprays will work, I will admit to being a particular fan of Scent-A-Way by Hunter's Specialties (H.S.).
Maybe it's the fact that I've used their stuff more often than others, maybe it's just that it's usually easy to find and purchase without putting too deep a dent in my wallet, or maybe it's just that it's made in the USA and it seems to do the job. Whatever the reason, I use their stuff and I believe it works.
Anyhow, we're here to talk about their Odorless Scent Control Kit, product number 01033. Below, I'll describe each of the products included in the kit.
Odorless Bar Soap
The bar soap is green in color, and does a pretty good job. After I showered with it, though, for some reason I felt a little less clean than I do when I use my every-day bar soap (Lever 2000). Something about the Scent-A-Way bar soap just didn't seem to rinse clean away. But that's a small price to pay for enjoying multiple eye-to-eye encounters with whitetail deer.
Odorless Anti-Perspirant
This is of the white solid type, not the clear gel I normally use - but it does the job. My only complaint is that it seems to go a lot more quickly than the other products in the kit, and will probably be the first thing to run out.
Odorless Max Pump Spray
The two jugs of Scent-A-Way Max odorless spray, one 12-ounce and one 32-ounce, contain a good amount of the stuff and will probably get most hunters through an average deer season.
I discussed the claims and benefits of Scent-A-Way's newer Max formula in my review of Scent-A-Way Max Continuous Spray, so I won't go into it again here. Suffice it to say, they've put some serious effort into formulating a product that does a lot more to eliminate odors than these products used to do.
The one pump spray nozzle included will probably fit the neck of either jug, but it makes the most sense to put it on the 12-ounce bottle and refill it out of the 32-ounce one - because the 32-ounce jug is taller and the pump's intake hose won't reach all the way to the bottom of the bottle.
Odorless Dryer sheets
When I gave all of these products the sniff test, this is the only one that had a definite odor when I opened the package. That smell is very likely completely gone by the time the dryer cycle is over with.
These sheets are odorless, work with all fabrics, leave no residue in your dryer, and eliminate static cling.
Odorless Laundry Detergent
This stuff is very concentrated, and the instructions call for just one ounce for top-loading washing machines, and a mere 1/2 ounce for front loaders - with the added caveat that "larger loads may require more detergent."
This stuff contains no UV brighteners, is color safe, controls odors, and includes directions for use on stubborn stains and/or for hand-washing clothes in camp.
In the Field
My 2014 deer season took me close to many whitetails, and most of them didn't smell me. I feel confident that I can attribute that to my use of Scent-A-Way products. While the clothes I wore on those hunts were not washed in this detergent nor dried with these dryer sheets, I used the rest of the products and they performed as advertised. I have no reason to believe that the other products would not do the same.
Conclusion
I can recommend this kit, and pretty much everything with the Scent-A-Way name. Their products have rarely, if ever, failed me, and I feel confident that they help me get closer to game, undetected.
