Directions for How to Use a Python Syphon Kit
- 1). Prepare for gravel cleaning and water changing. Place newspaper on the floor around the tank to soak up spilled water. Bring over the empty bucket for waste water and Python siphon kit. Lift up any decorations that may have accumulated fish feces or that may get in the way of cleaning the gravel.
- 2). Place large funnel-like end of the hose into the aquarium water. Take the other smaller end of the hose, stick it in your mouth and suck on it. Stop when you see water going up the hose three-quarters of the way and drop the small end of the bucket. Repeat if the water does not pour steadily out of the end of the hose.
- 3). Move siphon end around the dirtiest parts of the aquarium, removing any visible fish feces laying on the surface of the gravel. Push the siphon end into the gravel to remove unseen waste. This waste will show up as brown clouds.
- 4). Remove only one-fourth or one-fifth of the tank's water. Remove siphon from tank, and take it to a sink or other designated drying area. Come back to the bucket and dump the dirty water. Because you can only remove so little water, plan on doing one section of the tank per week and move about the tank floor during the month.
