How to Make Autotune
- 1). Click the GarageBand icon to launch the program. The "new project" pane will automatically open.
- 2). Click the voice icon, and name your new song. Keep all the remaining settings the same and click "Create."
- 3). Choose your track type (male or female vocals) from the left-hand menu by clicking the mouse within the respective block.
- 4). Click the red record button on the bottom menu bar to record your audio clip. Press the red button again to stop the recording. You now have an audio clip to autotune.
- 5). Click the second button in the bottom left corner of the interface. As you mouse over the button, it will read "Audio Region." A pop-up box will roll up, revealing the details of the audio clip you just recorded. Select the initial part of the track with no sound (indicated by no sound-wave lines) by clicking and dragging with your mouse. Press the delete button to remove the empty section of the clip. Select the empty section at the end of the track and press delete as well. You now have only your voice.
- 6). Pull the "Enhance Tuning" bar all the way to the right within the Audio Region box to autotune the audio clip.
- 1). Open Antares and click the "<Select An Effect>" from the list box on the lower half of the interface. A roll-up list will appear. Select "AutoTuneVST." Click the edit button to the right of "AutoTuneVST, which now is listed within the list box. This will pop up a new window with specific autotune adjustment controls.
- 2). Click the "Input Type" box to indicate your voice type. Below that box, indicate which key you want to use and switch the scale to "Major."
- 3). Adjust the "Retune Speed" knob in the lower-left corner of the interface to "Fast" (or 0), from its default setting of 20.
- 4). Adjust the knobs on the right side of the interface to the following: change the rate to 0.1, variation to 0, onset delay to 0 and onset rate to 0.
- 5). Slide the slider bars on the bottom right of the interface to the following: slide the pitch amount to 0, amplitude amount to 30 and format amount to 100.
- 6). Click the options button at the top center of the interface. Slide the "pitch tracking" bar all the way to the left, titled "relaxed."
- 7). Click the save button in the top-right corner to save the autotune settings to your hard drive. Close the box with the "X" button.
- 8). Press the red record button to record a track, pressing it again to stop the recording. The recording will automatically inherit the autotune settings you've just adjusted.
