How to Bow Hunt for Deer
- 1). Obtain a hunting license from your state's Department of Wildlife or Department of Natural Resources. If you are not going to use a firearm, this process is much easier. You may have to take a course on hunting safety and pay a small fee.
- 2). Find a natural habitat to go hunting in. If this is on private land, you will need permission from the owner. You must also make sure to go only during deer hunting season.
- 3). Set up in a treestand, or in a location that is hidden and has a good view of the forest.
- 4). When you are preparing to take a shot, move slowly. More movement is involved in shooting a bow than a rifle, so take care to avoid the deer noticing you and running.
- 5). Aim your arrow above the deer, taking into account gravity. Arrows will drop quicker than bullets, and you won't have time to shoot another if you miss.
- 6). Retrieve your arrows after their use, if you can. They are expensive to replace and often easily found if you follow where they sail off to.
