The Museum of Ethnography's permanent exhibition in Budapest offers visitors a glimpse of the material culture of the Hungarian peasant beginning at the end of the 18th Century until World War I. It's called traditional culture of the Hungarians. The exhibition takes guests through thirteen rooms. The rooms showcase the ethnic and religious diversity of the people's of the Carpathian basic. Visitors will check out local foods, various handicrafts made by village artisans, furniture makers, blacksmiths, potters, and furriers. Folks then produced a lot of painted furniture, colorful textiles and embroidered garments with the different colors meaning something, they reflected different regions. The peasant's life and culture is shown in great detail with the wedding feast being pivotal in the peasant's life. The exhibition has been expanded recently to include three new computer work stations that will enhance your experience. Finally, kids will love the set of booklets titled Ethnography for Children and reflect on the themes that they've seen in their own words.
