How to Care for Plastic Fishing Worms
- 1). Remove hooks and rigging from worms after fishing.
- 2). Rinse plastic fishing worms in clean, cold water after every use and air dry the lures on paper towels.
- 3). Repair any nicks, cuts and tears with a drop of Super Glue applied to one side of the worm. Press and hold the pieces together for 15 seconds until the glue sets.
- 4). Place the worms in resealable plastic bags, organized by size and shape. For example, curly-tailed worms can go in one bag to keep them separate from plastic nightcrawler baits, making the lures easier to use in the field.
- 5). Add several drops of scented worm oil to each bag of plastic baits, then seal the bag and shake it several times to distribute the oil and lubricate the worms.
- 6). Store the bags in a cool, dry place such as a tacklebox. Avoid leaving bags of plastic worms in direct sun, especially inside a vehicle where a stash of plastic baits can turn into a blob of colored jelly on a hot summer day.
