Pets Are People Too!
Relationships with family, friends, co-workers and strangers help us feel a part of a community, part of society.
We realize that we need other people to some extent in order to get all of our needs met.
And, we need others for companionship so we aren't lonely or all alone in the world.
There is plenty of proof from many research studies, just Google some keywords that show that babies are healthier when they get lots of touching and interaction and that they actually fail to thrive if they are denied any affection.
There is plenty of research showing that elder people and people recovering from illnesses all heal better and faster when they have either a spouse or significant other or a pet! Pets are people too because we have socialized them into our families and treated them as members of our families for centuries now.
They are beholding to us and the standards of living we dictate for them.
They are under our rule but still considered by most as family members.
We develop relationships with them I which we care, share or resources with them and our affections.
We confide in them.
They listen probably better than any of our human companions.
Pets provide unconditional love and acceptance beyond what any human beings are capable.
They share our homes, lives, activities and in some cases meals and beds.
Pets are people too because we have raised them to be part of our family.
When you are someone who considers your dog or cat as a family member and they are hurt or have been left outside be accident and we hear someone remark, "It's only a dog or cat," we have a reaction.
Because, they are not "just a dog or cat" to us.
They deserve more respect for their position in our household than such a dismissive remark.
When we invite a dog or cat to share our lives and homes with us as a valued family member we do not see them a "just a dog or cat.
" We see them as family, as another person to consider.
It may seem silly to the non-pet people of the world.
But then again, I one wonder who is truly the person.
Someone who dismisses a living companion we care deeply for, as if they we our own children, doesn't have the heart or chosen companion does.
My dogs are more humane than a few people I know and definitely would get consideration over some of them if I had to choose.
Pets are people too when you are a pet person.
They feel.
They love.
They are loyal.
They accept and appreciate us for who we are and what we provide for them without complaint or criticism.
Pets are better people than a lot of people I know.
They are part of the family and will remain so for many generations to come albeit.
If you are lonely or wanting to make a positive difference in the world adopting a dog or cat from your local humane society or animal rescue will add a loyal, loving, grateful new member to your family that you will grown very fond of and enjoy having as a member of your family.
