• Help your fish feel like they've ventured out of their little aquarium, set sails for the high seas, and arrived in some tropical paradise destination. Palm trees of varying sizes, some simple and others elaborate in detail design, are available at both pet specialty shops and major retail chains. Create a palm tree adventure trail for your fish to navigate through by clustering multiple trees together, but leaving enough room for them to swim around. Use trees of varying heights for maximum visual appeal. Include additional leafy tree options throughout the aquarium to soften the look of the palm leaves. Affix a sun-shaped window decal to the outside of the habitat to help your fish enjoy the balmy tropical implications.
  
  

Character Inspiration

• Word in the water is that fish have a sense of humor too, so create an aquarium that brings a smile to their faces by decorating it with animated television show characters. One show in particular that offers options to help do this is Nickelodeon's Fairly OddParents. This cartoon is a popular idea, especially for kids who love the show. Two fish characters actually have a somewhat prominent role in the program and are highlighted in pet store decorations. Make the floor of your aquarium come to life by matching the gravel to the bright yellow or pink colors in the fish decorations. Glowing Results

• One quick and simple way to add pizazz to your fish aquarium involves creating a memorable look by using all glow-in-the-dark decorations. Local pet stores offer an array of gravel in different bright colors, many of which also glow in the dark. Neon pink is one such option that lights up well when the lamps shut down. You can also purchase rocks, ships and faux plant life with a glowing quality intentionally designed into it. Add decals to the outside of the aquarium to complete this look.
  
  

Pirate Invasion

• Satiate your fish's curiosity and adventurous side by decorating the habitat with fun pirate-themed decorations. Both specialty pet supply chains, as well as nationwide retail stores, carry an array of pirate ships in different colors and sizes. One option that infers a scary event took place is a ship cut in half with cannonball holes in it. Add black metallic stones to your gravel to highlight a sense of mystery and intrigue surrounding how the ship lost its other half. Include a treasure chest spilling forth with faux gems and pearls. Spend an afternoon crafting a flag with a skull and cross-bones on it and affix it to the outside of the aquarium for added effect.
