Are You Pro-Choice on Light Bulbs?
Although it certainly sounds like a great idea to go with light bulbs which use less energy, one has to ask if we should be mandating which light bulbs everyone must use.
After all, what's next? The size of the engine in your car, the amount of food you eat, and the number of hours you watch TV or use online social media? Really if you stop and think about it, the concept of mandating the type of light bulbs we use is a slippery slope in government intervention in our personal lives.
This is where it starts, and despite the fact that saving energy is a wise choice, this intrusion into the lives of every American is problematic and it is getting us used to future mandates, which violate our personal choice.
If we continually allow our elected representatives to make rules and regulations which favor one particular light bulb manufacturer over all the others, by making every citizen buy all new light bulbs for their home, then we as American taxpayers are supporting corporate welfare.
We are also destroying choice in America.
People have the right to choose what type of light that they use.
Different types of light put out different frequencies, and each one of those frequencies affects our bio-system in a different way.
If we were really concerned with only the amount of energy we use, we would go strictly to LED lights, they use far less than any of the others.
However, today we are being told through congressional mandated laws that we may only use a certain type of light bulb in our homes and businesses.
And mind you I'm not saying that we should conserve energy, I think saving energy is a good idea, but I also believe it is a personal choice of how much energy you use, and since you paid for it, you should be able to choose that.
Please consider all this, because I am pro-choice on light bulbs.
