Paper or Cardstock Place Cards

• 1). Cut your cardstock into four-inch-by-three-inch rectangles or any other size you choose. If you don't have cardstock you can use paper, but the heavier the paper, the sturdier your place cards will be.
  
  
• 2). Fold the cardstock or paper in half to make a tent shape.
  
  
• 3). Add your guests' names. You may hand-write them or use your computer and a word-processing program to print them out with your printer.Then cut out the names and glue them on.
  
  For a playful look, cut out letters from a magazine or newspaper and use them to spell out your guests' names and then glue them onto the cardstock.
  
  
• 4). Add drawings or embellishments. You could draw something simple such as a flower. Or glue on pretty paper you may have left from scrapbooking, small silk flowers, ribbon or lace, pictures cut out from magazines, etc. You can even use your computer printer to print pictures of your guests and glue them on the cardstock.
  
  

Fabric Place Cards

• 1). Iron fabric so it is nice and smooth. If you want the fabric to be more stiff, add starch as you iron.
  
  
• 2). Cut out rectangular shapes of fabric with fabric scissors or pinking shears.
  
  
• 3). Write your guests' names on the fabric with a permanent marker or paint pen.
  
  

Place Cards From Nature

• 1). Gather items from nature. Some possibilities are dried, fall leaves or small, flat rocks or seashells. You might find some of these in your own backyard, garden, at the beach or local park.
  
  
• 2). Wash the items, such as rocks or seashells, with warm water if needed. Let them dry.
  
  
• 3). Write the names of your guests on the rocks, seashells or leaves with a permanent marker or paint pen.
