How to Use Hybrid Hooks
- 1). Slide a 3-oz sliding egg weight onto the end of the main monofilament or braided fishing line.
- 2). Slide a bead onto the line and then tie an barrel swivel onto the end of the main line with a Palomar knot.
- 3). Attach a 2-ft monofilament or fluorocarbon leader to the opposite end of the barrel swivel with a Uni knot.
- 4). Tie a 5/0 circle or octopus hook onto the end of the leader with a Palomar knot.
- 5). Place chicken livers, cut skip jack or other bait based on personal preference on the 5/0 hook.
- 6). Cast the rig into the water and allow it to settle to the bottom. Maintain a tight line as the rig moves with the current on the bottom.
- 7). Allow a hybrid bass to take the bait and turn so the circle hook will set. Raise the rod tip and reel down on the line to play the hybrid bass and work to land it.
