Festival of lights is here on Deepavali Festival, Diwali Gifts to India, Online Diwali Sweets to Ind

Falling on the month of October, Diwali is a 5 day festival, each day having its own significance and rituals to be followed. The festival begins with Dhanteras, a day set aside to worship Laksmi. On this day gold and silver is purchased symbolizing the welcome of the goddess of wealth to shower her blessings through out the year.

The following day of the festival is Kali Chaudas. On this day the goddess of Strength, Kali, is worshipped. On this day special vada’s are prepared and the women of the families throw them on the cross roads. The reason behind this is believed to be that all the evils and tensions of the house is thrown away, hence freeing the family from the dark shadows of evils, welcoming the new light of .

The 3rd day (the last day of the year in the lunar calendar), is celebrated as Diwali. On this day puja is conducted worshipping goddess of wealth and knowledge. Family members sit together for the puja and this is followed by bursting of crackers. Friends and relatives then visit each other, wishing each other and inviting them for the New Year.  

The fourth day of Diwali falls on the first day of the lunar New Year. At this time, old business accounts are settled and new books are opened. Friends and relatives visit each other and exchange gifts and sweets. This goes on for day long and special meals are also prepared which serves home made Diwali sweets, dry friuits and savories.

The final day of Diwali is celebrated by siblings of the families. Sisters invite their brother over lunch or dinner and bless them will good luck and prosperity for the upcoming year. This day is called Bhaiduj and the sisters are given special Diwali gifts, which might remind you of Rakhi.

On all the five days the house is decorated with lights and lamps in beautiful earthen pots and decorated diyas. The diya symbolizes the spread of goodness and happiness. Rangoli is one of the most attracting features as well. Women of the house gets up early on each day and draw beautiful rangolis which is filled with colors of joy. 

Children love this festival as they get to wear new clothes and get to eat loads of sweets. Diwali sweets are prepared way ahead of the festival days. There are special treats for Diwali prepared and the entire house is seen dazzling with happiness and love.
