Hosting a Tea Party

10
Instead of a sleep-over, why not host a tea party for the little girl in your life.
In a world that is filled with too little family time, this could be the perfect solution to spend time with your child as well as teach her how to be a gracious hostess.
Not only is this a great idea for daughters, but also nieces, granddaughters, and godchildren.
Map out the details before you engage your special little girl in conversation.
You might choose a date and time that you know will be convenient for other mothers of whose children you will be inviting.
Also decide on how long you would like your "guests" to stay.
Next, set a limit on how many little ones you actually want to invite.
Here would be a great time to talk with your child about the importance of kindness when inviting her "guests".
Encourage her tell her guest how honored she would be if they would join her for a tea party.
Now comes the fun part!! The date is chosen and the guest list made, and now it is time to set the theme of your tea party.
Let your child be active in choosing the tea party favors that will set the stage for her big day.
Does she want to dress up with high-heeled shoes and purse favors, or would she rather have a more laid back theme.
My guess would be that most little girls like to play dress up.
Make it a fun time by going thrift store shopping for just the right hat or gloves to accessorize her look.
Have her help choose the place card holders and take the opportunity to teach her why you use them at special events.
You might also let her decide what she would like to serve at her party.
Give her suggestions with few options so that deciding will not overwhelm her.
Let her choose which colors she would like to have for her tables.
On the day of the party, have your child greet her guests and show them to their table.
You might even talk ahead of time about compliments and how they make others feel.
By encouraging her kindness, you are teaching her life lessons without her even knowing it! Be sure to take lots of pictures, too! As the party winds down, you might have your daughter give each guest a specially prepared party favor to remember this fun day.
These can be as simple as a hand-drawn thank you card that you make together or a pink plaid purse favor filled with her favorite jelly beans.
With a little planning and some special together time, your little girl and her guest are sure to cherish the memory of this day forever.
