The military service includes the Army, Air Force, Marines, Navy and Coast Guard.
Each of these branches of the military also include Reserve units that has people who typically serve closer to home.
These young men and women participate in the same training as the regular armed forces.
These reserve soldiers devote one weekend a month in order to keep up with their training and also serve two weeks each year on active duty.
If needed these reserve personnel can be called to active duty.
These reserve units are approximately 200,000 strong.
