    • 1). Register your vehicle with your state's motor vehicle department. This usually entails filling out an application with your vehicle information and paying a processing fee. As all states have different laws, the process will be slightly different each time. Visit DMV.org to find out the rules and regulations for your state. DMV.org is an online database that will provide you with all of the motor vehicle laws and processes for your particular state. You can also download the forms you need from this site.

    • 2). Unscrew the two screws that are holding the old license plate to the front bumper of your vehicle with a screwdriver. Remove the license plate from the vehicle and place the new plate in the same location. Place the screws through the holes in the plate and re-screw it into the bumper.

    • 3). Repeat the process in Step 2 for the rear plate. Unscrew the screws with the screwdriver, remove the plate and replace it with the new plate. The rear license plate will be either on the back bumper or attached to the trunk of the car.
