How to Tint Lashes
- 1). Purchase the color tint you desire, such as black, blue, grey or shades of brown. When choosing a color remember to select something that matches your skin tone. While at the store you also can buy the petroleum jelly and cotton pads and swabs that are required for the procedure if you don't already have these at home.
- 2). Follow the instruction on the particular product you have purchased. Mix the ingredients, which are essentially the same chemicals used in hair dye. This will create a pastelike substance.
- 3). Use a cotton swab to apply a small amount of petroleum jelly above and below your lashes. This will protect your skin from discoloration that the tint can cause. However, be careful not to apply any petroleum jelly to your lashes or they will not accept the tint.
- 4). Apply the tint to your eye lashes using the applicator that came with the product. Be careful to provide full coverage of the lashes, but not to use an excessive amount of product. The tint will be left on your lashes for five to 15 minutes, depending on the instructions for your particular product.
- 5). Using a moist cotton pad, wipe away the tint product, beginning at the root and moving toward the tip of the lash. Be sure to wipe away all of the tinting product before using another cotton pad to remove the petroleum jelly from around the lashes.
