Lightening Skin in the Inner Thighs

22

    Using Oils

    • Oils can soften the skin and help loosen dead and discolored skin that remains after chaffing subsides on the inner thighs. Oils should be massaged into the skin using circular movements for 10 to 15 minutes to soften the skin. Use oils that won't irritate or clog the pores of the skin. Only soothing, gentle, non-comedogenic oils should be used. Olive oil and castor oil are excellent choices. Massage the discolored areas of the inner thighs multiple times per day in order to dislodge and loosen the dead skin cells.

    Using Acids

    • Acids such as lemon juice help lighten inner thigh skin by dissolving the loosened dead skin cells and allowing the skin to regenerate new skin cells. Lemon juice has a high amount of vitamin C, which combats free radicals on the skin and improves new cell development. Lemon juice can be applied to the thighs by cutting a fresh lemon in half and rubbing the open end on the areas of discoloration. Concentrated lemon juice can be substituted.

    Using an Alkaline Scrub

    • Using an alkaline scrub, such as pure baking soda, dislodges stubborn dead skin and gently exfoliates the inner thighs. Gently scrubbing with baking soda buffs off the loosened and dissolved skin cells, allowing new skin to come through. This new skin will be balanced and evenly toned. Mix 2 tbsp. of baking soda with 1 tsp. of water. Gently massage the mixture on the inner thighs for 1 to 2 minutes. After the area is rinsed with water, the new, evenly toned skin will start to appear. Because of its strength, a baking soda scrub should be used on the inner thighs only once per day.
