  Create a space communicator. This is especially good if the phone still makes some noise or has games on it. Use a little paint, glow in the dark markers, nail polish, white out pens or star stickers to decorate your space communicator. Paint each key button a different color, especially if it's glow in the dark paint or nail polish. Create your own alien-looking numbers and paint on the keys.

  Many children want a cell phone but aren't old enough to have a real one. By creating a toy phone from a real phone, it can fill the gap. Having a personalized phone just for them that's a one of a kind can be a lot more fun than having a real phone. Use nail polish or metallic markers and write the child's name or draw hearts, stars, dinosaurs, etc. Let the child add stickers for even more fun.

  If the cell phone still works but is not in service, this can be used as a phone and address book. Put all the contacts you have onto the old cell phone so that you don't have to overload the phone you currently use. The types of contacts you can put into the old phone are contacts you rarely use, like people on a Christmas card list who you wouldn't normally call on a regular basis. Since this is just a contact list and not a device you need to carry with you, feel free to personalize it however you like with pictures, stickers, paint, rhinestones, etc.
