Security Guard Training - What Does It Involve?

Security Guard training in the United Kingdom is divided into three units: - Working in the Private Security Industry - Working as a Security Guard - Conflict Management for the Private Security Industry Security Guard training involves a lot of theory to ensure you understand legislation and roles and responsibilities and what level of jurisdiction you have in relation to the Police Force and other enforcement areas.
A typical course will be run over 2-3 days with exams at the end to ensure you have understood the theory and can apply your knowledge.
At the end of your training, and if you pass, you are eligible to apply for your SIA licence.
This will allow you to work in the security industry for a probationary period of 3 years in which time you will prove your skills and knowledge.
At the end of the 3 year period, you are eligible to renew your licence provided there have been no incidents against you.
The SIA Licence is a key part of your requirements of training in becoming a security guard, or any role within the private security sector.
An SIA Licence will also enable you to begin working immediately as the demand for security personnel increases with the rise of terrorism and petty crime.
Being a security guard in today's world requires you to not only be fit but also be able to think quickly on your feet whilst also knowing what your jurisdiction is and what legislation you are guided by.
Security Guard Training will ensure you have the answer to all these questions and more.
You can expect courses to be run frequently in the main centres and it is also a good idea to attend multiple courses to broaden your skill base if you are serious about working in the security industry long term.
Such courses include CCTV training, Surveillance Training and Bodyguard Training.
Surveillance Training is fast becoming a must have qualification if you hope to progress within the security industry.
