How to Make a Gothic Garter
- 1). Measure the circumference of the center of your thigh where you will wear the garter using a measuring tape.
- 2). Snip a length of elastic from the roll using scissors. Cut it 1 inch shorter than the circumference of your thigh.
- 3). Snip a length of fabric measuring the same as the circumference of your thigh and 2 inches in width. Spread it out in front of you with the dull side of the fabric facing upward. Lay the strip of elastic over the center of the strip of fabric, so that both lay vertically together. The elastic will be shorter than the fabric, so center it.
- 4). Squeeze a line of fabric glue down the left edge of the fabric strip. Fold the right edge of the fabric inward to meet the left, glued edge. Press the edges together. Let the glue dry for 10 minutes. Do not get glue on the elastic. The fabric should envelop it.
- 5). Scrunch the silky fabric away from both ends of the elastic. This scrunches the fabric tightly and stretches the elastic out of it. Glue together the two ends of the elastic and hold them together firmly for two minutes. Release the elastic and let it dry for 10 more minutes.
- 6). Squeeze a small amount of glue along the edges of the fabric ends that cover the elastic. Blow on it for a minute for it to set. This keeps the fabric from slipping away and exposing the elastic.
