15
Everybody wants more energy but is getting it through sugar the wise choice? Have you ever given candy, soda, cookies, cake, or even ice cream to a kid? Needless to say, did you notice a sudden burst of energy? The usual bouncing off the walls, constant chatter, and suddenly CRASH! The aftermath? An exhausted, sluggish, cranky kid whose body is silently feeding off the dangers hidden within the sweetness.
The Good...
Sugar tastes absolutely wonderful on the taste buds.
It looks even more scrumptious in a cupcake, candy bar, or ice cream cone.
Here's the sad truth, that's about the only good thing about it.
The Bad...
Sugar comes in many forms not just the typical white sugar used on a day to day basis.
Here are some of the other fancy names sugar is disguised as; Fructose and Glucose (fruit sugars), Sucrose (table sugar), lactose (milk), corn syrup, brown sugar, palm sugar, honey, and even alcohol.
Regardless of which form, all sugars are bad for our health.
Here's a mind boggling fact, sugar feeds cancer.
Sugar is in almost everything, so to think about the diet a cancer victim has to be on is unimaginable.
Sugar is also the major cause of obesity which may lead to diabetes, weak eyesight, increased cholesterol, or even decrease growth hormones.
It also causes drowsiness, hyperactivity, anxiety, and difficulty concentrating.
I'll stop here but the list continues.
The Truth...
Sugar may give sudden bursts of energy, however that's a lot of "empty calories".
There's absolutely no vitamins, minerals, or beneficial nutrients in this popular ingredient.
In addition, when your body has all of the energy that it needs from sugar, it converts the excess into fat and stores it.
That's how the pounds start stacking.
This addiction to sugar destroys your body slowly and silently.
It's almost like drugs, once you start taking it, your body craves larger doses each time.
Have you ever wondered why drinking soda, or eating something high in sugar gives an immediate energy boost? That's because even though energy can be found from other sources like proteins, fats, and carbohydrates, our bodies take a lot longer to digest these then artificial sugar which is absorbed instantly.
There are many other alternatives to getting energy without adding the adverse side effects to our body.
So many people want instant gratification therefore often forgetting the downside in the long run.
Remember things aren't always what them seem.
The truth is usually "sugar coated".
