How to Reset the Codes on a 2000 Neon

    • 1). Open and secure the hood on your Neon and locate the battery. When standing in front of the engine compartment, the battery is located on the back right side of the engine bay.

    • 2). Find the negative battery terminal, which is marked by a minus sign on the battery.

    • 3). Use the adjustable wrench to loosen the negative battery clamp, turning counterclockwise, that is secured to the negative battery terminal.

    • 4). Remove the clamp and leave it disconnected for at least 30 seconds.

    • 5). Reattach the negative battery clamp and tighten it until it no longer wiggles.

    • 6). Start your Neon and confirm that the check engine light is no longer on, which means you have successfully cleared the trouble codes.
