Choosing your Parrot's New Home.
Maybe you are looking for a cage for your new parrot or for an existing feathered friend - I know it can be quite a big decision to make.
There are a number of things to consider but I am going to make this process as easy as possible for you.
Your parrot is hopefully going to be with you for a very long time so it is important that he is comfortable, relaxed and happy.
The most important rule when looking for a new cage is to go for the largest one you can afford.
Your parrot can never have too much space but he can have too little.
Parrots are very intelligent and require a lot of stimulation.
Ideally your parrot should come out of his cage every day to have some play time by himself or with you.
An open top cage with an area for your parrot to play can be an ideal way to bond with your bird or to reward him when he is on his best behaviour! Parrot cages need to be very spacious so that whichever parrot cage you choose it will provide your parrot with plenty of space and comfort.
It is important that your parrot cage is durable as those powerful beaks can do a lot of damage.
Make sure that your cages are parrot proof and designed them to last a lifetime.
Your parrot cage is best positioned in a room with a lot of activity which will help to keep him stimulated.
However, it is important that you place the parrot cage away from droughts, direct sunshine and areas of high traffic (next to a door) as this may stress your parrot.
A corner of a room is usually an ideal place as your parrot will feel a lot more secure with the walls behind him.
You may be able to purchase a corner cage that provide your parrot with lots of space and comfort to keep him happy.
Please remember your parrots cage is his home.
It is important that he comes out of the cage regularly to interact with you but it is also important that he can also go back to his cage for some personal space if need be.
Whichever parrot cage you choose by following these simple points your parrot will be happy with it and we are sure you will be too.
