New National Brand to Take Top Spot

If you were to walk into any established restaurant; and somebody said 'I'll have a bottle of water'. And you then began to hear the irregular scrunch of thick acrylic wrapper. You should know that it was a bottle of etc Spring Water being unravelled. Founder of etc Spring Water Jason Jacobs wittily remarks, 'it's like a ripple of lightening with a great idea at the end'. And is delighted at the fact that despite having established competitors. So far, etc Spring Water appears distinctive, yet recognisable in the presentation of its ornate 'Gold Ribbon Range'. Carefully wrapped in a thick and alluring bouquet of purple acrylic.
The shape and thickness of the glass playfully pop out an ascending melody, as the clear flowing water makes its way through the bottle's elegant neck. That generic feel of newness when untwisting and disconnecting from its seal it's acutely to date and lightweight aluminium cap. And the sound of crisp and precise clicks as the cap twists, and separates from its base; like a precision pocket watch being wound up. The satin smooth touch of a newly printed, silky black and white label embossed in etc livery with the manufacturer's emblem bearing its two roaring lions within their crest of leaves. They could simply be mascots, or an image to represent the might of the etc Spring Water roar and indication of the importance and relevance related to the messages etc Spring Water wish to send. But ultimately, the majestic regality of kings and leaders bestowed upon etc Spring Water by the ultimate king of nature itself - the lion.
Why etc Spring Water?
It's an unbelievably smooth tasting Spring Water. It's source, which is actually in Devon in the South West of England evidently ensuring that the water isn't overly balanced with minerals that can lend a sharp after taste to some waters.Established in August 2010. After a gap in the UK drinking water market was spotted by avid health and nature enthusiast, and experienced businessman Jason Jacobs.
It began with a survey, with the following questions;
1) If you wanted a coke. What would you have?
An original Coke.
2) If you wanted some great tasting orange juice. What would you have?
Tropicana.
3) If you wanted some water. What would you have?
Evian
4) But if you wanted some English Water. What would you have?
?
The answer for question four returned pretty much the same answer. People drew blank. And were unable to name consistently a brand they could confidently define as 'the' English brand of drinking water. Or an English Spring Water brand that they all felt close to through a mutual understanding. Even now, if we were to name the more prominent manufacturers of English Spring Water. We might speak about Malvern Water; who we might also mention were released from Coke Enterprises and as yet remain in limbo; creating even greater opportunity in the English bottled water market; Hildon and Abbey Well who are often found in hotels and restaurants. Or perhaps Iceni Water.
Each of the above has their own distinctive company branding. But the common denominator among all of the existing brands; is that they all represent specific locations or people in England or its history.
All very well, but what if like me you've not heard of the Malvern Hills or a similar location. Or might never have the opportunity to visit the location of the water you're consuming. Or similarly, what if despite having a love for natural English food and beverage products. You actually don't have an interest in history so to speak. We then begin to question the reasons as to why consumers buy into any of these brands which in reality may not be relevant to each and every consumer in anyway whatsoever.
About etc Spring Water
Presently, etc Spring Water has a designated sales team of four people. With a separate area for marketing and distribution. And their close knit team at the Spring itself. Its head office operates from the centre of London, on Pall Mall. A location chosen for its convenience for visiting clients from the UK and overseas. Orders and enquiries for trade and home are made directly with its sales team who can be contacted directly. Although I am told that etc Spring Water appear to be concentrating on placing its products slowly and selectively among only the most appropriate and exclusive locations. That so far includes selected restaurants, and boutique eateries and coffee shops. With a growing list of private buyers. I get the impression that the company wish to stay exclusive for as long as possible and when I ask, I am told; that they have no immediate ideas to supply supermarkets and the mainstream just yet. Although this is hard to believe, when considering this company has already had early discussions with representatives of J.Sainsburys, and an order looms from the suppliers to W.H.Smith. With the company's recent sponsorship at London's Fashion Week. Clients in New York. Shipments to the Middle East. And all from a company that's not even been established a year yet. I can only conclude.
They must be doing something right!
