Recently, as you may have noticed, you may have seen an increasing amount of your friends joining gyms and fitness centers in the hopes of improving their health and losing weight.
This is due to the fact that it is becoming more popular that being overweight or obese can cause serious medical problems - it can even be fatal.
Nearly 400,000 people succumb to death each year from simply being a little bit overweight.
This means that their deaths were explicitly caused as a result of being just a tad bit overweight.
  Being overweight involves a lot more than just the physical aspect.
There is a mental aspect as well.
Because being overweight slows the metabolism down, those who are overweight are more prone to depression, sleep deprivation, and low self-esteem.
Because having a low metabolism slows down the immune system - and decreases the amount of fat burned in the body - those who are overweight find themselves at a higher risk of cardiac arrest and strokes.
They are also more prone to viral infections and diseases due to the fact that a low metabolism decreases the effectiveness of the immune system.
Naturally, it is tough for any of us to "keep up with the Jones'" when all we see are the skinny, sexy, fit celebrities paraded in front of us everyday; at the same time, we find our inner selves competing with the fast food commercials we see on TV - with those same celebrity figures promoting them! Hogwash!   Your war against weight gain is not over; it's only just begun! One of the best ways to start fighting back is through exercise.
The sad truth is, and I had to realize this myself, most people throughout the world live a stagnant, lazy life.
There is no exercise.
Exercising is never encouraged, nor do many people admit that they have the time to exercise.
Although we may be privy to walking, subways, buses, etc, most people choose to drive themselves - in the names of convenience and speed.
Along with this comes the fast food era - there's absolutely no time to do anything for ourselves(not true), so we rely on the high caloric intake of the foods they prepare for us.
I had to learn the hard way that none of this was beneficial.
Exercising can do wonders, but it does not necessarily mean you need to join a gym or fitness center.
Aerobic exercises, such as going for a jog or brisk walking, can do wonders for just 10-15 minutes per day - in fact, it's been proven you can lose 21 pounds in 21 days just doing that! Simply fitting in 10-15 days, and coupling that with a great diet plan is the best way to lose weight - choosing foods that are low fat, not empty calories, and fight weight gain is the best way to go.
