Moose Hunting at Rainbow Lake in the Alberta, Canada Area
- The 2010 general season for antlered moose only in wildlife management unit (WMU) 536, which includes Rainbow Lake, is a split season running from September 1 to October 31 and from November 1 to November 30, the same as previous years. Hunters are issued a licence for one of the two general season sections.
- The 2010 archery-only hunting season in WMU 536 starts August 25 and ends August 31. This season is for hunters using approved bows, but not crossbows, which can only be used during the regular season.
- Hunting moose in the Rainbow Lake area and all of WMU 536 requires antlered moose special licences, which are distributed in draws, which generally take place in June. Draws are open to Alberta residents and to non-resident Canadian hunters. Hunters from outside of Alberta are required to apply with an Alberta resident, each of whom can only apply with one non-resident.
- The cost to enter the antlered moose special license draw for 2010 was $36.85 for Alberta residents and $135.31 for non-residents. These fees are subject to the five percent goods and services tax.
- While hunting, Canadians from outside of Alberta must be accompanied by their host hunter, with whom they applied for the draw license, and hosts may not accept payment for accompanying non-residents, directly or indirectly. Non-residents from outside Canada are not eligible for any draw licenses.
