Anxiety Disorder - Children and Causes of It
This is not always well known but Anxiety Disorder, Children, and Adults alike can be affected by it.
In particular, when we have a child affected by it, it can be stressful to see.
In order to help, support, and work with them better as parents we need to know the causes.
One of the biggest sources of Anxiety for children, lies with separation from a parent.
As parents, we provide, care, and protect our young ones.
This is easily noticeable by them without words.
When separated, it's not too far off thinking that they are not safe anymore.
Thoughts, in their own ways can range from anxiety of where you are, will you be back, how long, what if you never come back...
Many such thoughts occur and will easily ramp up the stress level.
All they know, is right now, at this very moment they are not near us.
This can be noticed if they refuse school to ensure they stay close by.
Perhaps sleeping over at a family member can produce worry.
They can get very irritable as a result and throw tantrums, or react with panic when parents are not around.
Another common source is reacting with extreme fear to certain conditions, situations, or things.
They may fear a particular type of pet or animal.
Going to the doctor may feel like their world is ending - they just do not want to deal with injections or the needle.
Other sources can include a few other things.
Meeting other people, talking to others they may fear and as a result they have very few, if any friends outside of family.
Making mistakes, not wanting to be embarrassed, etc...
