You Cannot Have This Drink of Water Without the Container Vessel - That Is Just Impossible!

27
Many people are looking for riches and wealth.
Thousands are looking for treasure that will change and transform their circumstances.
Well here it is, that is, if you really want it.
The world would never have given this city of Corinth a second look.
Do you for a single moment think that that city of Corinth would be at all interested in faith and morality and cleansing and forgiveness and witness and light - that crowd? Never! Yes, Corinth was bad and was known as one of the worst sea port cities for sin and sinfulness and sinful activity at that time.
Do we see ourselves in this? If you see yourself in this give thanks.
God can use you, through Christ Jesus.
It worked in Corinth and it can work in you when God places His priceless treasure in your heart and life and mind.
These inhabitants of Corinth were worse than the dust beneath Caesar's chariot wheels! They were the offscourings or scrapings or scum of the earth but that is not what Jesus Christ thought of them and that is what really matters.
Paul was led and directed to go to Corinth to preach and teach and later he wrote letters to those people who came to real vital vibrant faith in Jesus Christ, although there were many weaknesses remaining.
Paul had no illusions as to the reality of the situation in Corinth and he writes that not many wise, and not many mighty, and not many noble, are called and chosen by Jesus Christ.
But, do notice that he not say none was called from any of these categories.
God, why do you want to work with such an odd selection of rather useless vessels? "Ah, because my ways are not your ways, dear world!" we read of that in Isaiah Chapter 55.
Take heart from this, especially when we see the crippling stupid divisions in the church, and all its flaws and blunders and complacency, and even lethargy and apathy.
Paul teaches that we are basically earthen vessels or clay jars in which Jesus Christ has placed his treasure and that is more valuable than all the money and jewellery and superficial trappings of the world.
Is this really the instrument of Christ? "How much more of an earthen vessel would you like to be?" Paul was an earthen vessel himself and in the same letter he writes regarding his bodily presence and he was not very much and his speech contemptible.
He never forgot that he had been a murderer! Who am I to be an ambassador of this royal Redeemer? Who am I to be a specimen of the mercy and grace and love of the crucified and risen Son of God - God the Son? This has been the unlikely story of the Church down through these past 2,000 years! - treasure in earthen vessels.
Sin can blind us from spiritual reality and truth.
If in your reading of this, you might wish me to take you further and perhaps even deeper, all you have to do is simply ask and there is an excellent facility on this website for contacting those who contribute articles.
I would so willingly come and share and teach what I have learned and received over these past years.
Do you know what can happen at times? One man can want the treasure without the earthen vessel! That is not on! Give me Jesus Christ, but not the Church - NO! I just want this drink of water without the cup! That is also impossible!
