The Solar Bar Museum forms the third tourist element of the Giza Plateau and visitors can see the well-preserved boat of Khufu.

If you are not done with the Pyramids, there are several more at Dashur near Cairo which were built by Seneferu of the 4th Pharaoh dynasty. Although pretty badly damaged, they are still wonders of architectural marvel and well worth the drive. The Step Pyramids of Zoser are also magnificent to behold and should be seen, if possible.

The Egyptian Museum in Cairo is a good place to while away an afternoon even if you are not very interested in history. It is definitely worth the trip as you can see some of the greatest rulers of Egypt lying in the Mummy Room.

The Old Cairo has the fabulous Khan El Khaili Souk or market and which has been in existence since the 14th century. It still does roaring business and is the place to go for souvenir hunting, shopping for spices, jewellery, carpets or simply to absorb the atmosphere of the place. Here, you can witness, first hand, the flair of Oriental bargaining and can also partake of lunch at the famous Egyptian Pancake House.

In the Islamic section of Cairo, there are many churches which date back to the times of Jesus and the St. Sergious Church is supposed to be the place where Jesus, Mary and Joseph took refuge from Herod. Close to it, is the hanging Church dating back to the 4th century and there is also the Ben Ezra Synagogue further down.

The Citadel is extremely impressive but appropriate clothing is a must and voices must be kept down since Muslims are frequently in prayer.

A wonderful way to wind down your trip to Cairo is by taking the Nile dinnercruise from the city when the sweeping horizon and glittering lights of the city transform the chaotic city into something almost magical.
