    Southwest Wordoku "I-DO-FLY-SWA"

    • To play Southwest Airlines Wordoku, you will need to do some preparation, preferably at home the day before the flight. Wordoku is based on the popular numbers puzzle game Sudoku. There are nine boxes each with nine smaller boxes to make a grid box containing a total of 81 boxes; there are nine rows across and nine rows down. To solve any Sudoku puzzle, or in this case Wordoku, place a letter from the word into each box so that each row across, each column down and each small nine-box square within the larger diagram (which holds nine of these) contains every letter from I-D-O-F-L-Y-S-W-A.

To create the puzzle, place letters in certain boxes to aid with the solution. There is only one solution so make sure these steps are followed exactly: in row one, place "A" in the 3rd spot, "F" in the 5th spot and "S" in the 6th spot. In the second row, place "O" in the 2nd spot, "F" in the 3rd spot and "L" in the 8th spot. In the 3rd row place "L" in the 2nd spot, "A" in the 4th spot, "D" in the 5th spot and "F" in the 7th spot. In the 4th row place "F" in the 2nd spot, "I" in the 3rd spot, "D" in the 4th spot and "S" in the 7th spot. In the 5th row place "S" in the 1st spot, "O" in the 5th spot and "W" in the 9th spot. In the 6th row place "L" in the 3rd spot, "W" in the 6th spot, "I" in the 7th spot and "I" in the 8th spot. In the 7th row place "D" in the 3rd spot, "W" in the 5th spot, "Y" in the 6th spot and "F" in the 8th spot. In the 8th row place "W" in the 2nd spot, "A" in the 7th spot and "I" in the 9th spot. Finally, in the 9th row place "F" in the 4th spot, "I" in the 5th spot and "W" in the 7th spot. Now fill in the open spots with the letters so each of the 9 boxes, each row, and each column spells "IDOFLYSWA."

    Who Beats Center Seats?

    • Once the flight has been cleared for takeoff, each player involved has to take one minute, timed, to make an educated guess on how many center seats from each side of the plane are empty. After each player has written their entry on a piece of paper or even a napkin, one player must get up (after the pilot has cleared the plane for seatbelt removal) and count all the open center seats on each side of the plane. A second player must get up after the first player, to confirm their counts match. The person closest to the number can win a free cocktail (purchased by the other players), a prize of the players' choice or simply the glory of being the winner.

    Southwest Hangman

    • Taking the old school Hangman game to a new level, write the following words/phrases on pieces of small paper and put them in a small sandwich bag: "cockpit," "lavatory," "navigator," "landing gear," "flight attendant," "beverage cart," "landing lights," "altitude," "flotation device," "Love Field," "seven-thirty-sevens" and "Bags Fly Free." Players pull from the bag when it is their turn to be the writer/drawer. The base and hook of the hanger is first drawn. Players guess letters of the word and the writer writes the correct letters guessed in the spaces where they belong for each word. If the letter is not in the word, the letter is written in an area for mistakes and then the following parts are made until someone is declared the loser: head, body, arm, arm, leg, leg, foot and foot. The person with the most unsolved words/phrases is the loser and vice versa for the winner.

    "Lav" It Up

    • Before this game begins, players involved need to write down how many men they believe will walk past them during the flight to use the lavatory and how many women will do the same. This game will be played as soon as the plane takes off, regardless of whether the captain turned off the seatbelt light or not. All players can keep track so their counts match. The person closest in total number of men and women is the winner of this game.
