How do I Compare the Prices of Individual Health Care Policies?

34
    • 1). Find an online comparison site. Choose one or more sites that compare quotes from multiple companies (see Resources).

    • 2). Enter your basic information. The comparison site will need to know the birth date, gender, smoking status and student status of you and everyone in your family that will have health coverage under this plan.

    • 3). Click on the "Go," "Get Quotes" or similar button. A list of providers will load on the page, along with their deductibles, coinsurance percentages, office visit prices and monthly cost estimates.

    • 4). Seek help and advice from an insurance agent. This step is optional. An agent can present you with a list of options for health care policies, and knows the ins and outs of the health insurance business. Buying insurance from an agent may cost more, but you will have a go-to person to help you sort through coverage issues if and when they arise.
