How to Replace an R22
- 1). Check to make sure there aren't any conflicts between your channel lineup and your receiver. The R22 is not a high-definition receiver, so if you recently added HD channels to your lineup, you would need to upgrade to a higher end model such as the HD DVR HR24-100 in order to see them.
- 2). Call the DirecTV technical support department. If you haven't added any HD channels but ares still experiencing issues with the R22, you can reach them at 1-888-763-7772 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Once the representative determines the nature of the issue, they can possibly send an authorization hit or a reset to correct the issue.
- 3). Schedule a service call. More than likely, the technical support representative will determine if this is a necessary step, and if so, schedule a good day and time for a technician to arrive and determine the nature of the issue.
- 4). Schedule the installation of a new receiver. This step will only be necessary if the technician determines that the R22 needs to be replaced and doesn't have a replacement on hand. If you have a Protection Plan through DirecTV, most of the costs of replacement and installation will be covered.
