  Almost every business based in Arizona must obtain a state transaction privilege tax (TPT) license from the Arizona Department of Revenue. This license is also frequently called sales tax, resale, wholesale, vendor or tax license. The city in which your business is located will require you to obtain a transaction privilege tax or business/occupational license from its governing body as well.

  Certain occupations require state licenses as a matter of course, including those offering health or legal services and establishments that sell liquor.
