Duphaston Side Effects
- Duphaston is prescribed for many conditions that may result from progesterone deficiency. It is used for hormone replacement therapy and to treat irregular or painful menstruation, endometriosis, infertility and to help prevent miscarriage.
- The most common side effects associated with Duphaston include bloating, dizziness, headache and nausea.
- Hormonal changes due to Duphaston use can result in acne, breast tenderness or enlargement, changes in sex drive, fluid retention, spotting between periods and weight gain.
- Rarely, some women have developed anemia or abnormal liver function while taking Duphaston. Women also can experience an allergic reaction, usually in the form of a rash, to the medication.
- Women should not take Duphaston if they have a history of cardiovascular disease, gallbladder or liver disease, unusual vaginal bleeding or hormonal cancers such as breast or ovarian cancer.
