Starbucks Nutrition: 3 Tips to Avoid Hidden Calories in Your Coffee Cup

6
Starbucks nutrition is not readily available on their website.
So, if you love a cup of joe, then it's important to learn what you should, and shouldn't drink.
You could be drinking a 600 calorie drink, full of sugar and fat, without even knowing it! In this case, ignorance is not bliss, especially if you are trying to lose weight after pregnancy.
Here are 3 tips to get you through your next coffee stop at Starbucks so you're not drinking the equivalent of an entire meal in your one coffee drink.
Tip #1: Skinny Drinks Starbucks offers a variety of "skinny" drinks.
These skinny drinks have sugar free syrup, non-fat milk, and no whip cream.
An example would be a tall skinny vanilla latte.
You get to have your coffee fix for 90 calories.
Not bad for a sweetened coffee drink.
If you don't like flavored coffees and prefer the pure coffee taste, opt for a tall nonfat cappuccino for 60 calories.
This is an even better option than the skinny flavored drinks.
Or, if you really want to decrease the amount of calories, get a tall cafe Americano or just plain brewed coffee.
The Americano has 10 calories, and the brewed coffee has just 5 calories.
But remember, once you start adding cream and sugar, the calories start to go up.
Tip #2: Skip the Pasty It can be hard to resist the pastry when you're buying your cup of joe, especially when the baristas are offering you samples at the counter! But, it may be best to pass on the zucchini walnut muffin for 490 calories.
Who knew something with zucchini would have so many calories? Imagine if you got that plus a tall white peppermint mocha, and for you're looking at a total of 930 calories! That's a lot of calories for a small coffee and a pastry.
If you are hungry, a better option would be the strawberry blueberry yogurt parfait at 300 calories.
Add that with your skinny vanilla latte and your breakfast only totals 390 calories.
It's not a bad way to start the day.
Tip #3: Try Tea Instead There has been a lot of excitement over tea lately, namely green tea for weight loss.
If you opted for brewed Tazo tea, your drink has 0 calories.
To lose weight, basically you're wanting to burn more calories than you consume.
Drinking tea can save you calories in your weight loss efforts.
Plus, there are health benefits to green tea.
Benefits such as fighting off cancer and heart disease, lowering cholesterol, burning fat, stopping diabetes and stroke, and putting off dementia.
So, the next time you're in the mood for coffee, remember these Starbucks nutrition facts.
When you know what you're drinking and eating, you are in a better position to lose all or more of the weight you gained during your pregnancy.
